The Artistic Home Announces 2013 Season

After a season of being an itinerant theatre, The Artistic Home has returned to its roots and laid out the welcome mat at a new, intimate storefront space in Chicago's West Town neighborhood.

The Cyrus Cylinder, sometimes referred to as the first 'bill of human rights,' traces its origins to the Persian king Cyrus the Great's conquest of Babylon in the sixth century B.C. Almost 2,600 years later, its remarkable legacy continues to shape contemporary political debates, cultural rhetoric and philosophy.

Alumnae Theatre Company Presents THE DROWNING GIRLS, Now thru Dec 1

Alumnae Theatre Company's production of The Drowning Girls runs approximately 75 minutes. There is no intermission. Opening Night & Gala will take place tonight, November 17, 2012. The show runs from Friday November 17 through Saturday December 1, 2012, according to the following schedule: Wednesday - Saturday 8:00pm; Sunday matinee at 2:00pm. Talkback with cast & director will take place after the matinee on November 25.

Beth Graham and Daniela Vlaskalic met at the University of Alberta, where they were both studying acting. After graduating from the program in 1998, they teamed up with director Charlie Tomlinson to write The Drowning Girls, a play based on a real-life Scotland Yard serial murder known as the "Brides in the Bath" case.

Alumnae Theatre Company Postpones Opening of THE DROWNING GIRLS by a Day 11/17-12/01

Alumnae Theatre Company just announced that the opening of their production the Drowning Girls has to be postponed due to a family emergency with one of the cast members, it is unfortunately necessary to postpone the opening of The Drowning Girls by one day. There will be no performance on Friday November 16; instead the show will open on Saturday November 17.

Lyrics from the movie's songs, featuring a mix of rap, hip-hop and gospel music performed by stars Tyler James Williams, Coco Jones and Brandon Mychal Smith, will appear on screen throughout the telecast.

Al Smith's Atom Bomb Play ENOLA Set for the Side Project, Now thru June 15

Mixing fact and fiction, faith and science, theatricality and stark realism, playwright Al Smith explores the legacy of war on youth by having Enola, the 8-year-old daughter of the man who built the plane that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, walk him through that fateful summer. Rogers Park-based theatre company, the side project, presents the U.S. premiere of Enola, which won the 2006 Sunday Times (U.K.) Playwriting Award, as part of its three-show Spring Repertory, starting today, May 13.
