Chicago Street Theatre Teams Up With Local Greenhouse for Plant Sale, 5/7-30

Starting this weekend, Friday, May 7, Chicago Street Theatre, Yeager's Greenhouse, and the Special Olympics are partnering up for a Plant and Flower Sale. The sale will be open for the remaining May weekends. Chicago Street Theatre partnered with Yeager's Greenhouses last spring and sold flowers, vegetables and herbs at the theatre. The proceeds benefited the theatre and local greenhouse. This year, for a second time, the theatre is again partnering with the Greenhouse, in addition to the Special Olympics. There will be a huge variety to choose from including: flats, hanging baskets, pre-made pots, gerbera daisies, impatiens, geraniums, wave petunias and much more.

HotCity Theatre, a professional theatre company with a focus on contemporary programming and new play development announces the Mainstage world premiere presentation of THE SINKER, written by Jami Brandli, with dramaturgical help from Erica Nagel. THE SINKER was the chosen script from the 2009 Annual GreenHouse new play festival.

What a way to end the Center Stage Cabaret Series. Baltimore native and Baltimore School for the Arts graduate, Tracie Thoms, rocked the Head Theatre before a sell-out crowd filled with family and friends Thursday evening. Thoms made a name for herself playing the role of Joanne in the film version of Rent (and even performed with the Broadway cast) and now has a recurring role on the CBS television show , 'Cold Case.'

Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe, Long Island Sound Future's Fund and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Assistant Director Lynn Dwyer, FedEx Manager of Social Responsibility Rose Flenorl and FedEx, Green Apple Corps volunteers and MillionTreesNYC Training Program participants planted flowers and shrubs and prepared the Five Borough Shops roof for a new addition to its almost 20,000 square foot green roof.
