Set in Buffalo, New York in the 1940s, 'Ancestral Voices' is a bittersweet story, perceived through the eyes of young Eddie, whose family is turned inside out when his grandmother unexpectedly divorces his grandfather in order to marry his grandfather's best friend.

The soul troubadour whose frank, socially conscious ruminations on life continue to challenge popular notions of what modern soul music can look and sound like: a raw storyteller for the people wearing a guitar and a toothpick-chewing smirk; a wide-eyed, intense soul brother in a crazy-fly get-up singing about bedraggled love in the land of Lost Angeles - he's all of that, but wiser now while still wearing poetic license on his skin like a battle scar. The Atlanta native has always stood his own creative ground ever since he first holed himself up in his bedroom to record The Headphone Masterpiece, armed with his DIY musical arsenal: a drum machine, an array of instruments, a dusty four-track cassette recorder and a giant pair of headphones to block out the world. The result was an unvarnished collection of songs - 36 in total, which alchemized his love of a multitude of styles: classic rock, rhythm and blues, pop, punk and gospel music.

Center Theatre Group's Robert Egan directs Jon Robin Baitz's "Other Desert Cities" at the Mark Taper Forum. The play that received a 2012 Tony nomination for Best Play will be presented in its West Coast premiere at the Taper and will close out the Taper's 45th season at the Los Angeles Music Center. Guitarist/keyboardist/producer Jack Petruzzelli celebrates his first-ever Grammy Award nomination, as he co-produces Joan Osborne's Blues covers CD 'Bring it on Home'. The 2012 release has been nominated for BEST BLUES ALBUM, and marks the latest highlight in Petruzzelli's long collaborative relationship with multi-platinum artist Osborne.

Okada Productions in collaboration with Yuji Takematsu present Kikki & Grandpa & Baby, a new musical written and directed by Yutaka Okada beginning January 5th at the Chernuchin Theater (American Theater of Actors 314 W. 54th Street). Music is by Shizuka Iwabuchi and includes traditional Japanese songs. Lyrics are by Yutaka Okada with additional lyrics by Julie Holtzman and Kuni Mikami. Musical direction is by Kuni Mikami.

MTC MainStage, Music Theatre of Connecticut's Professional Equity Acting Company, presents an encore of its' Moss Hart Award-Winning production of 'It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play.' Adapted for the stage by Joe Landry and directed by MTC MainStage Artistic Director Kevin Connors, this beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. Two benefit performances are today, December 15 at 2pm and 8pm and take place at MTC MainStage Studio Theatre in Westport, CT.
