Museum of Jewish Heritage Announces March-April Programming

The March-April public programming schedule at the Museum of Jewish Heritage-A Living Memorial to the Holocaust will feature controversial films, engaging performances, family-friendly fare, and compelling discussions.

Richard Schechner Wins 2010 Thalia Award

New York University professor and professor of performance studies in the department of Performance Studies at the Tisch School of the Arts Richard Schechner has been awarded the 2010 Thalia Award. The award is presented annually by the International Association of Theatre Critics and will be given to Schechner at a ceremony in Yerevan, Armenia June 16th to 20th.

REDCAT Hosts Brinkmanship: Park Chan-Kyong & Sean Synder Exhibitions

Organized by REDCAT Gallery Director and Curator Clara Kim and Doryun Chong, Associate Curator of Painting and Sculpture at The Museum of Modern Art in New York, this exhibition brings together the work of two rigorous visual artists--Seoul-based Korean artist Park Chan-Kyong and Tokyo/Kiev-based American artist Sean Snyder. The two artists first met in Germany in 2002, and their shared interest in North Korea and the politics of the Cold War led to this initial encounter and becomes the impetus for this two-person exhibition titled Brinkmanship. The exhibition will feature new works by Park and Snyder developed over an extended period of exchange and conversation during the preparation of this exhibition, alongside recent works that will provide a broad context for their respective practices.

A play about Leoš Jana?ek, who in the autumn of his life became besotted with a young woman - Kamila Stosslova. The play will have its premiere on January 29 at the Kolowrat Theatre.

Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum Presents 'National Design Triennial: Why Design Now?'

Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum will present the fourth exhibition in the National Design Triennial series in spring 2010. "Why Design Now?" will be on view from May 14, 2010, through Jan. 9, 2011, and will explore the work of designers addressing human and environmental problems across many fields of design from architecture and product design to fashion, graphics, new media and landscape design.

Culture Ireland Performing Arts Announces Showcases in New York, 1/8-1/11

But in CIRCUS INCOGNITUS, this internationally acclaimed clown, balancing artist and acrobat - a featured soloist with Cirque du Soleil and Montreal's Cirque Éloize - must attempt the one thing he fears most: public speaking. Next month Adkins will bring CIRCUS INCOGNITUS, his family friendly solo show, to Washington University's Edison Theatre.

The New York Philharmonic Presents Asian Horizons: Alan Gilbert 10/8-24

At a press conference in Tokyo today, New York Philharmonic Music Director Designate Alan Gilbert and President and Executive Director Zarin Mehta announced the details of Asian Horizons: Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic, October 8?24, 2009. This will be the Orchestra?s inaugural international concert tour under the leadership of Alan Gilbert, who will begin his tenure as Music Director in September 2009. Asian Horizons will consist of eleven concerts, spanning five Asian countries, with performances in Tokyo, Japan (a destination of special significance in light of Mr. Gilbert?s Japanese heritage); Seoul, Korea; Singapore; and the Philharmonic?s debut performances in Hanoi, Vietnam, and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Pianist Emanuel Ax and violinists Frank Peter Zimmermann and Ye-Eun Choi (Philharmonic debut) are the featured soloists on the tour. Asian Horizons marks the fourth New York Philharmonic concert tour under the aegis of Credit Suisse, the Orchestra?s Global Sponsor, and the second in Asia.

Epic Theatre Ensemble Presents MAHIDA'S EXTRA KEY TO HEAVEN Post Show Series, Begins 9/18
