Nicole Scherzinger Says She Still 'Adores' Andrew Lloyd Webber Despite Passing on CATS

As previously reported, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber spoke to The Economist Radio this week and revealed that Nicole Scherzinger, who starred as Grizabella in the recent West End revival of Cats, had initially signed on for the upcoming Broadway production but changed her mind just before rehearsals got underway. Now, Scherzinger has responded to Lloyd Webber's 'furious' reaction, bearing no ill will toward the theatre legend.

Producers The Shubert Organization and The Nederlander Organization have announced the cast for the first-ever Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical, CATS. One of the biggest hits in theatrical history, CATS will return to Broadway this summer at the Neil Simon Theatre(250 W 52nd Street) with preview performances beginning Thursday, July 14, 2016, and an official opening set for Sunday, July 31, 2016. Producers The Shubert Organization and The Nederlander Organization have announced the cast for the first-ever Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical, CATS. Pursuit Productions, with support from the Chicago Dancemakers Forum, will present the premiere of THEM, a new work of dance-theater made in collaboration by choreographer Ahmad Simmons and director Kacie Smith. Performances will be held tonight, July 10, through July 26 at the Preston Bradley Center in Chicago's Uptown, Todays and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 7pm. There is no performance scheduled for July 17.

Auditorium Theatre's Creative Engagement Department Sets Summer Community Initiatives

Closing out the celebration of the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University's 125th Anniversary Season, the Auditorium's Creative Engagement Department announces community initiatives that will continue through the entire summer. The award-winning summer camp "Hands Together, Heart to Art" ("HTHTA") returns for the 11th year July 6 - 31, allowing children ages 7-14 who have experienced the loss of one or both parents the opportunity to use the performing arts to encourage communication, foster emotional growth and provide young people with the consolation of friendship and compassion from their peers and instructors. The theatre will also introduce the new "Brave Face Project," a devised play created to shine light on women's roles in society with performances June 26 - 28 in the Katten/Landau Studio. In a continuing effort to encourage young talent, the Auditorium's "Made in Chicago" Summer Dance Intensive invites dancers (ages 11-18) to take part in a unique opportunity to train with some of the best professional dancers in the city June 29 - July 3 at the Auditorium.

CDF Reveals 2015 Lab Artist Awards

The Chicago Dancemakers Forum (CDF) is delighted to announce today the four recipients of its 2015 CDF Lab Artist Awards. Each Chicago-based artist will receive $15,000 as well as 12 months of mentorship and peer support. Choreographers Baraka de Soleil, Jamal "Litebulb" Oliver, Benjamin Holiday Wardell, and Sara Zalek were selected by an esteemed panel comprised of local and national dance leaders, artists, scholars and arts administrators, following a rigorous, two-round application process. Each grantee was identified as being within a key moment in their artistic development, demonstrated a clear vision, a solid body of work, a compelling line of inquiry, and a firmly grounded work ethic.

Thodos Dance Chicago Launches 14-15 'Chicago-Inspired' Season

Thodos Dance Chicago launches its 23rd 'Chicago Inspired' season Saturday, November 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Auditorium Theatre, kicking off the historic Chicago venue's 125th Anniversary 'Made in Chicago' dance series.

Thodos Dance Chicago Presents 13th NEW DANCES, Now thru 7/21

Thodos Dance Chicago will celebrate 13 years of dance creation with its annual New Dances performance series, today, July 19-21, 2013 at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street, Chicago. Performances are tonight and Saturday, July 19 and 20 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, July 21 at 5 pm.
