Today, 6 June, the National Theatre's award-winning production of War Horse at the New London Theatre will release over 290,000 new tickets for sale, taking bookings up to 20 October 2012.
The Drama Desk Awards ceremony was hosted by Harvey Fierstein on May 23 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan Center. This year, for the first time, a 90-minute Highlights Special of the Drama Desk Awards Ceremony will be televised nationally on OVATION, the national cable network dedicated to presenting creative arts programming to national TV audiences. The ceremony will be given two primetime broadcasts plus four other airings between June 4 and June 19, 2011.

Yesterday the horse puppets from 'War Horse' opened Lincoln Center's Illumination Lawn for the summer season. The horse puppets dazzled onlookers on the Lawn, which is a double-twisted green space that forms the roof of one of Lincoln Center's newest buildings.
'We felt great joy on hearing the news of this special Tony and are full of pride and gratitude for the work of the puppet makers in Cape Town and the War Horse cast in New York, who, with great dedication and talent, brought the puppets to such vivid life. We're indeed fortunate to have been part of the War Horse Creative Team and to have enjoyed the support and dedication of the Royal National Theatre and the Lincoln Center Theater. 'We'd like to use this award to pay tribute to puppeteers everywhere who are working to demonstrate what a unique and powerful asset our art form is to the language of contemporary theatre. Puppetry is the pop avant garde of contemporary theatre where (for example) animals can take their rightful place alongside people as fascinating and fully-fledged theatrical subjects.'
BroadwayWorld has confirmed that WAR HORSE, which just opened at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre last week, is gearing up for a national tour, as well as a separate sit-down Toronto production. While details on the tour have not yet been announced, the show will play Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre from June 13 - July 22, 2012. The Toronto production is set to open in February of 2012.
