Local 802 President Adam Krauthamer to be Honored at Inside Broadway's Beacon Awards

On Monday, March 16 at their annual Broadway Beacon Awards Gala at The JW Marriott Essex House New York (160 Central Park South), leading NYC arts education nonprofit Inside Broadway (Executive Director, Michael Presser) will honor Local 802 President Adam Krauthamer with a Broadway Beacon Award to be presented by James J. Claffey, Jr., President of Local One, IATSE.

Brian Stokes Mitchell Will Host 11th Annual BROADWAY SALUTES

The Broadway League and The Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) announce that the eleventh annual Broadway Salutes ceremony will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Sardi's Restaurant (234 West 44th St). The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. with arrivals and pinning, and the reception begins at 4:00 p.m.

Local 802 Reaches New Deal with the Broadway League

The Associated Musicians of Greater New York, Local 802 AFM announced today a landmark three-year collective bargaining agreement with the Broadway League and Coordinated Bargaining Partners.

Photo Flash: Local 802 Musicians Rally, Perform in Solidarity with Striking Chicago Symphony Musicians

Over 150 musicians stood together at Dante Park, directly across from Lincoln Center, to demonstrate solidarity with their colleagues on strike at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. A group of thirty brass musicians from the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic, and the New York City Ballet performed, conducted by Joseph Alessi, Principal Trombone of the New York Philharmonic. The Local 802 AFM musicians spanned every genre from Broadway to classical to indie, and the musicians were joined by their fellow union members from Actors' Equity, American Guild of Musical Artists, IATSE Local One, IATSE Local 764, the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, SAG-AFTRA NY, and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.

Update: Local 802 Responds to Dispute with BE MORE CHILL Orchestrator

Be More Chill officially began its Broadway run last week, and while the show is already celebrating an exciting milestone, conflict as has arisen between the show and Local 802, the union for professional musicians. Orchestrator Charlie Rosen just took to Facebook to explain why the union has prevented him from performing in the pit as Guitar 2 & Ukulele. He writes:

Argyle Theatre Orchestra Musicians Unionize with Local 802 AFM, Seek Official Certification of Union

The professional musicians who perform in musical productions at Babylon Village's Argyle Theatre have started the unionization process with the Associated Musicians of Greater New York, Local 802 AFM. A majority of the orchestra musicians have expressed their intent to unionize and are now seeking official certification of their union through a National Labor Relations Board election process.
