James Monroe Iglehart, who brought ALADDIN's Genie to life in the Pre-Broadway tryout of the show in Toronto has just won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

James Monroe Iglehart won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for ALADDIN. This is James Monroe Iglehart's first Tony nomination. He has also appeared on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Memphis.

Disney's Aladdin, the new musical comedy based on the Academy Award-winning animated film, opened to critical acclaim on March 20th, 2014 at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre and has received 2014 Best Musical nominations from the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League Awards. The cast album is available digitally starting today, May 27. Click here to pre-order the physical album, which is released on June 17.

Schmackary's Cookies, The Official Cookie of Broadway, will hold its 2nd annual 'Broadway Bakes' fund raiser from May 26-31. Schmackary's is located in the heart of the Theatre District at 45th and 9th Ave. in Hell's Kitchen.

Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award winner Whoopi Goldberg attended last night's performance of Broadway's new smash musical comedy Aladdin at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Following the performance, Goldberg went backstage to visit with Tony nominee James Monroe Iglehart (Genie), who was near tears at meeting one of his idols, and the cast.
