Groundhog Day scooped Best Musical at last night's Olivier Awards, with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Audra McDonald presenting the award to composer Tim Minchin at the ceremony at London's Royal Albert Hall. The sun and stars were out at the same time this afternoon as London's theatre community descended upon the Royal Albert Hall for this year's Olivier Awards. With excitement high, the nominees, presenters and guests were all keen to share their hopes and predictions for the evening ahead.

Sonia Friedman Productions is delighted to announce that Asmeret Ghebremichael has joined the company of Dreamgirls to perform the role of Lorrell Robinson. She began performances this week.

Today, past winners Denise Gough and Matt Henry announced the nominations for the Olivier Awards 2017 with Mastercard, the most prestigious event in the UK's theatrical calendar. The 2017 awards are set to be the biggest yet, as they make their debut at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 9 April.

Sonia Friedman Productions is delighted to announce that the highly anticipated Original London Cast Recording of the new, hit West End musical Dreamgirls, will be released on Sony Classical mid-April and is available to pre-order today via Amazon.

American actor Joe Aaron Reid's Broadway credits include If/Then, Chicago and Curtains. In London, he starred as Benny in In the Heights and is currently playing Curtis in the hit West End revival of Dreamgirls.

Effie might indeed be going... to Broadway. According to the New York Post, London producer Sonia Friedman is already looking for a Broadway Theater to transfer the West End production, which has been bringing audiences to their feet nightly.

Producers of the West End revival of DREAMGIRLS turned to Twitter today to announce that Amber Riley, who has missed the last several performances of the show, has been diagnosed with pneumonia.
