Joe's Pub at The Public announces the second season of its New York Voices series, presenting new works from critically-acclaimed performers commissioned by Joe's Pub and supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The 2013 season will include the celebrated Spanish flamenco dance company Noche Flamenca; the singer-songwriter Abigail Washburn who fuses traditional forms of Appalachian and Chinese folk music; and carnal chanteuse and fearless cabaret star Bridget Everett.
This December marks the end of OUR HIT PARADE, the "hilarious" (New York Post) live, top-ten countdown at Joe's Pub at The Public that has been the centerpiece of New York's downtown performance art scene for over five years. The final shows will be November 14 at 9:30 PM, followed by two specials on December 19 at 7:30 & 10:00 PM including a 2012 TOP TEN COUNTDOWN and HITS OF OUR HIT PARADE. Dance New Amsterdam (DNA), NYC's foremost progressive dance education center and performance space, champions experimentation in its rowdy LateNite series, a triannual portion of the DNA PRESENTS season, which gives a voice to artists working within the mediums of performance art, burlesque and experimental theater. The season's first installment, IT'S LIKE WE ARE INFILTRATORS, PART II, is a multi-disciplinary and installation-based evening curated and conceived by Neal Medlyn. The performances tonight, October 5 and tomorrow night, October 6 will also feature his original music, both live and recorded. Each hour-long performance begins at 10:00 p.m.
