The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced details for the 2014 NYMF'S NEXT BROADWAY SENSATION competition. A perennial fan-favorite, the competition will return in December with an impressive new list of celebrity mentors.

Round House Theatre continues its 2014/15 season with a magical, fresh new take on a beloved classic - The Nutcracker, a new holiday musical created by Tommy Rapley, Jake Minton, Phillip Klapperich, and Kevin O'Donnell. Directed by the award-winning Joe Calarco, The Nutcracker makes its area premiere at Round House Theatre from tonight, November 26 thru December 28, 2014.

The Asian American Composers and Lyricists Project and ReImagined World Entertainment will present 'Arriving In Asian America,' a song cycle collectively written by members of the project with original words and music by Adam Gwon, Timothy Huang, Christine Toy Johnson, Ming Aldrich-Gan, Hyeyoung Kim (with Michael Cooper), Leon Ko, Robert Lee, Yoonmi Lee (with Gaby Gold & Zhu Yi), Yan Li, Jason Ma, J. Oconer Navarro, Kamala Sankaram, Tidtaya Sinutoke (with Ty Defoe) and Jeff Tang.

On November 17th, patrons have one chance to see a New York Theatre Barn (The Barn) exclusive Pre-­Premiere* of the new musicals, ROBOTICUS and SOMETHING BLUE at the Daryl Roth Theatre's D-Lounge. The Barn is the only 501(c)(3) non-profit theatre company whose sole mission is 'to give theatre a chance.' For the first time in the series' seven-year history, both presentations will include wireless captions for the deaf/HOH audience members, which can be accessed on personal cellular devices.

Continuing its ongoing efforts of supporting new musical theatre, Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA held invitation only readings of two world premiere musicals, Midwestern Gothic by composer Josh Schmidt (Adding Machine, A Minister's Wife) and librettist Royce Vavrek (Dog Days, Twenty-Seven) and Silver Belles by composer/lyricist Matt Conner (Nevermore, Crossing) and book writer Ally Currin (Caesar and Dada, Benched), on November 6 and November 8, 2014.

Apartment 40C, a new musical conceived, written and workshopped at London Theatre Workshop, will get its world premiere at the new bijou theatre in Fulham in a season running from Wednesday 3 December to Saturday 20 December.

The 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals, presented by the National Alliance For Musical Theatre (NAMT), kicked off with THE 46TH MINUTE, a concert hosted by Lindsay Mendez and featuring performances by Heidi Blickenstaff, Doreen Montalvo, Mamie Parris, Bryce Ryness, and more. Musical presentations started October 23 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) and included Beautiful Poison, Cubamor, Great Wall, How To Break, Mary Marie, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, String and Stu For Silverton. Pentatonix's Kirstin Maldonado and other outstanding artists from the worlds of Broadway, television, film and other mediums came together last night, November 3, 2014 for the fourth annual Broadway Unlocked Give Back Concert an interactive, livestreamed benefit concert celebrating the work of the Crime Victims Treatment Center (CVTC) of St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital. Performers included Kirstin Maldonado, Kate Wetherhead,Barrett Wilbert Weed, Tituss Burgess, Keala Settle, Nathan Tysen & Chris Miller, Kait Kerrigan & Brian Lowdermilk, Joey Contreras, Adam Gwon, Jeff Bowen, Georgia Stitt,Hunter Bell and more, with 5J Barrow returning as the Broadway Unlocked House Band. SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young (www.say.org) (formerly Our Time) will be presenting four original One-Act Plays written and directed by teens who stutter, and performed by professional actors. The teens are part of the organization's innovative Confident Voices program, which helps kids who stutter find their voice.
