The Country Music Association's critically acclaimed CMA Songwriters Series Presented by U.S. Bank announces a performance at The Heights Theater in Houston Monday, Sept. 17 at 7:00 PM featuring Josh Kerr, Maddie & Tae and Jon Nite. Maddie & Tae's Maddie Marlow (from Sugarland, TX) and Tae Dye have a strong connection to Texas, with the two first meeting during a music showcase in Dallas prior to becoming a Platinum-selling duo, while Nite was born in Amarillo, TX. The CMA Foundation honored 34 music educators during the third annual CMA Music Teachers of Excellence ceremony last night, Tuesday, May 8, at Nashville's Marathon Music Works. The invite-only event, hosted by RCA Records Nashville recording artist as well as CMA and CMA Foundation board member Chris Young, celebrated teachers from districts across the state of Tennessee as well as cities Chicago, Cincinnati, Los Angeles and Seattle for their advocacy and commitment to music education. More than a dozen Country artists and celebrities attended the ceremony in addition to Nashville Mayor David Briley, Metro Nashville Public Schools Superintendent Shawn Joseph, CMA and CMA Foundation board members, industry leaders, and representatives from eight CMA Foundation beneficiary programs.
The Country Music Association has announced additional artist performances during this year's CMA Fest. The festival—now in its 47th year—boasts an exceptional bill of hundreds of artists performing on 11 stages throughout downtown Nashville Thursday through Sunday, June 7-10.
