PETER AND THE STARCATCHER Releases New Block of Tickets Through January 6, 2013

The producers of Peter and the Starcatcher, a new play by Tony Award-nominee Rick Elice, announced today that a new block of tickets are now on sale, through January 6, 2013. Directed by Tony Award-winner Roger Rees and Tony Award-nominee Alex Timbers, Peter and the Starcatcher began performances on March 28, 2012 and opened April 15, 2012, and is playing at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street).

Cast members of Peter and the Starcatcher, including Celia Keenan-Bolger, Matthew Saldivar, Adam Chanler-Berat, Carson Elrod, Matt D'Amico, John Sanders, Betsy Hogg and Orville Mendoza today headed Off-Broadway to see SkippyJon Jones, the new children's musical written by their co-star, Kevin Del Aguila (Smee). Gary Ross Set to Direct PETER AND THE STARCATCHERS Film Adaptation

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hunger Games director Gary Ross will helm an upcoming film adaptation of PETER AND THE STARCATCHERS- the book on which the Tony-winning play is based. Jesse Wigutow is on board to pen the script.

Christian Borle, who won a 2012 Tony Award for his role as 'Black Stache' in PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, departed his role for the filming of season two of NBC's SMASH last week. Taking over the role is Matthew Saldivar, who has been seen on Broadway as Steve in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, Sammy in THE WEDDING SINGER and Kenickie in GREASE.

Yesterday, July 14, Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore hosted the 14th annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adoption event benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. BroadwayWorld was there and brings you full video coverage of the event, including the opening performance by ONE MAN, TWO GUVNOR's band The Craze, plus interviews with the hostesses, as well as Julie Halston, Newsies' Jeremy Jordan, The Book of Mormon's Andrew Rannells, The Lyons' Dick Latessa (CQ) and many of the rescue groups in attendance, plus footage of Linda Lavin, Angela Lansbury and more presenting the animals available for adoption. Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters will host the fourteenth annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adoption event benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. Produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, sponsored by the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and with additional sponsorship by the New York Times, the event will take place on Saturday, July 14 in Shubert Alley, the heart of the Broadway Theater District (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenues). The festivities begin at 3:30 p.m.; celebrity presentations of pets from animal shelters citywide will take place between 5-6:30 p.m.
