BWW Reviews: Science and Chemistry in Seattle Rep's PHOTOGRAPH 51
by Jay Irwin
- Feb 7, 2013
When looking back on the history of the human race it always shocks me on how backwards a people we really can be. For example, why would a people restrict half of their fully functioning and intelligent members from trying to create advancements in their chosen fields? Yes, that's what we did and that's some of the central plotline of Anna Ziegler's "Photograph 51", currently playing at the Seattle Rep, focuses on. This engaging play shines a spotlight on an interesting moment in history where a brilliant scientist's work was hampered simply based on her gender.
South Coast Repertory Presents HOW TO WRITE A NEW BOOK FOR THE BIBLE, 10/19-11/18

Bill Cain's 'How to Write a New Book for the Bible,' an autobiographical tale about family, a son's devotion, and a mother's love comes to South Coast Repertory from October 19 through November 18. It is directed by Kent Nicholson. 'How to Write a New Book for the Bible' follows the story of Bill, who comes home to take care of his octogenarian mother, Mary. Many times she's maddening, but she's always funny as the family's story unfolds through flashbacks.
BWW Reviews: Seattle Rep's CLYBOURNE PARK Features Strong Ensemble
by Jay Irwin

Sometimes I don't think we in Seattle know how culturally lucky we are. We have amazing theaters that give us new and exciting works sometimes even as tryouts on their way to Broadway. But now the Seattle Rep has pulled off a new one as we are getting Bruce Norris' thrilling new work "Clybourne Park" here even though it just opened on Broadway last week. And if that weren't enough for us to thank our lucky stars, add into that the all around stunning production of this new work with its sublime cast and we may come to realize just how much the theater Gods are smiling down upon us.
