The Outre Theatre Company presents the first production of its 2017/18 season, George Orwell's 1984, in its new home at the recently opened Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The play 1984 is based on George Orwell's dystopian novel published in 1949. In 2005 the novel was chosen by Time magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels. Many of its terms and concepts, such as Big Brother, doublethink, thoughtcrime, cold war, and Newspeak have permanently entered into common use since its first publication.
Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, Inc. has approved a grant in the amount of $115,000 from the General Operating Support grant making program.
BET Networks announced today a multi-platform talent agreement with award-winning journalist and television personality, T.J. Holmes. The deal with Holmes includes a new show on BET as well as content on BET.com in which he can bring his many talents to some of the most important and interesting stories to BET's audience.
While most of Atlanta is dreaming of warm spring walks in the park, Center for Puppetry Arts is already thinking ahead to the 2011 holiday season. The Center is currently preparing for the second year of Jon Ludwig's wildly successful adaptation of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The holiday favorite will return as part of the soon-to-be-announced 2011-12 season, playing November 1 - December 31, 2011.
Atlanta Broadway Series recently completed a successful engagement of theatre classic 'Fiddler on the Roof,' starring Harvey Fierstein, at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Honoring the spirit of tradition, the Tony Award winning musical partnered with another community mainstay, Girl Scouts, for a special fundraising effort.
