This tale about a headstrong and self-possessed woman who tests the man she weds to see if he is, indeed, the man for the job, runs in rep with Aristophanes' comedy, Lysistrata. Lysistrata is the long-suffering wife of an Athenian general fighting in a decades-long war. She finally gets fed up and enlists her fellow Athenian woman as well as the women of Sparta (their enemy) to end the war once and for all: by refusing sex to all the men until they come to a peace agreement.

Broken Nose Theatre today announced two major leadership appointments. Associate Artistic Director Elise Marie Davis has been named the company's new Artistic Director, succeeding Founding Artistic Director Benjamin Brownson. Brownson, who has led the company since its formation in 2012, is taking a brief sabbatical and will return as the company's Executive Director in 2019. Additionally, Company Manager Rose Hamill will assume the newly created position of Managing Director.

Once again, the whispers, thunder and wonders of the Great Auditorium Pipe Organ will ring out during The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association (OGCMA)'s Free Organ Recital Series, a signature part of its summer-long program of family entertainment. OGCMA's Pipe Organ is among the largest in the world and is the heart-beat of this Christian Victorian resort on the Jersey Shore. The historic 11,000-pipe instrument was built and installed in 1908 with original design innovations that became standard elements still extant in modern organ construction. It is made of over 40,000 feet of California No. 1 Sugar Pine and weighs 20-25 tons. The California Arts Council announced its plan to award $24,608 to Diablo Ballet as part of its JUMP StArts program. JUMP StArts supports high-quality arts education and artists-in-residence programs for youth engaged in the juvenile justice system. Activities may take place in classroom, after-school, social services, or incarceration settings. The proposed project must be designed and developed in partnership between an arts organization and a juvenile justice/social services entity. The project should demonstrate significant planning and should reflect a collaborative relationship between the partnering organizations.
