Last week, it was with great joy that I went to 54 Below to see the TCU Department of Theatre Senior and Alumni Showcase. As about half of the performers were graduating seniors, it isn't really fair to review the evening, but there was so much talent on the stage it is an event that should be noted. These are performers we will definitely be seeing in New York again, and soon.

Now in it its 18th season, Uptown Players is proud to present the musical Spring Awakening. Based on the play by Frank Wedekind, featuring book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik, the production runs one weekend only (January 31- February 3, 2019) at the Moody Performance Hall.

Pegasus Theatre presents The Cuban and the Redhead, a new musical about Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball, with book, music and lyrics by Robert Bartley and Danny Whitman. Tickets are on sale now.

This weekend only, Lyric Stage will perform Disney's THE HUNCHBACK OF NORTE DAME. Andrew Keeler makes his Lyric Stage debut as Quasimodo with Catherine Carpenter Cox as Esmerelda and Christopher J. Celebrate with Lyric Stage as it moves to the Majestic Theatre for its 25th season. For its first production at the historic Dallas venue, Lyric Stage has chosen THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, a lushly scored retelling of Victor Hugo's epic story of love, acceptance and what it means to be a hero.

BUDDY - THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY is the multi- award winning, worldwide smash hit musical celebration of the life and tragic death of Buddy Holly who shot to stardom in 1957. This rockin' musical plays June 27-July 9.

With music and lyrics by the celebrated Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, this vulgar delight of a production is no small undertaking; however, the students and faculty of TCU's Theatre department proved they were certainly up to the challenge.

Making a splash onto the Barn Theatre stage is DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID playing July 19 through July 31.
