Mabou Mines To Premiere FAUST 2.0 In Newly Renovated East Village Home


Mabou Mines, the world-renowned experimental theater company that celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2020,will stage the world premiere of Faust 2.0, March 27 April 14, 2019, in the company's newly renovated home at 122 Community Center (150 First Avenue). Adapted by Matthew Maguire, directed by Mabou Mines' Producing Artistic Director Sharon Ann Fogarty, and developed by Mabou Mines over the course of five years, the production is a timely multimedia reimagining of Goethe's Faust, Part II that follows Faust's search for ultimate power on the global stage.

The Wooster Group will open their newest piece, A PINK CHAIR (In Place of a Fake Antique) at The Performing Garage (33 Wooster Street) in New York City, with performances from April 28 through May 19, with press opening on Wednesday, May 9. The production will come to New York following a run in Los Angeles at The Roy and Edna Disney/CALARTS Theater from April 5-15, 2018.

The Wooster Group to Premiere New Works at St. Ann's This Spring


St. Ann's Warehouse, which has long provided a second New York home for The Wooster Group, will present two new works by the company this spring: the New York Premiere of Cry, Trojans! (Troilus & Cressida), March 24 - April 19; and a remounting of Early Shaker Spirituals: A Record Album Interpretation, April 23 - May 4. Both runs are strictly limited and cannot be extended. The upcoming engagement marks both The Wooster Group's first performances at the St. Ann's Warehouse interim theater at 29 Jay Street in DUMBO, and St. Ann's final presentation in the space, before the organization moves to its permanent home in the historic Tobacco Warehouse in Brooklyn Bridge Park this fall.

While construction continues and St. Ann's works to raise the final $2 million of its $30 million capital campaign, the organization will present a stellar final season in its temporary home at 29 Jay Street in DUMBO. It kicks off this October when TR Warszawa and director Grzegorz Jarzyna return for the American Premiere of their internationally acclaimed production of Sarah Kane's 4:48 Psychosis, which St. Ann's Founder / Artistic Director Susan Feldman has wanted to bring to New York since she first saw it in February 2004 -- the same year St. Ann's presented the American Premiere of the original Royal Court production of Kane's play. St. Ann's Warehouse also announced the following season highlights today: Emma Rice and Kneehigh, The Wooster Group, the Slovenian choral group Carmina Slovenica, and The Tiger Lillies.

The Wooster Group will present EARLY SHAKER SPIRITUALS: A RECORD ALBUM INTERPRETATION at The Performing Garage from May 17 through June 15, 2014. The newest Wooster Group work, EARLY SHAKER SPIRITUALS is a performance based on a 1976 LP of Shaker hymns, marches, anthems, and testimony recorded by Sister R. Mildred Barker and the sisters of the Shaker community in Sabbathday Lake, Maine.

Deirdre Kinahan's 'Bogboy' won three major awards, including best production, at the closing ceremonies of the fourth annual 1st Irish Festival, on Monday October 3, at Papillon Bistro & Bar, 22 East 54th Street. The haunting drama about a heroin addict's unlikely friendship with a reclusive farmer also scored for Sorcha Fox who won best actress and Jo Mangan who was named best director. But it was 'A Night with George,' a comedy from Belfast, that proved to be the audience darling, snapping up the award for Best Play in online voting. The award for Best Play was presented by the actor Gabriel Byrne, Ireland's cultural ambassador.

Mabou Mines Presents FINN Starring Robbie Collier Sublett in 40th Anniversary Season, Opening 3/4


Internationally acclaimed theater ensemble Mabou Mines celebrates 40 years of creating groundbreaking theater with the world premiere of 'FINN', a digital and live-action adventure based on the ancient Celtic legend of Finn McCool opening on Thursday, March 4th (8PM) at Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place). Conceived & directed by Mabou Mines Co-Artistic Director Sharon Fogarty, and written by Jocelyn Clarke, this original theatrical work blends traditional storytelling and music with large-scale digital technology. Finn McCool, part mortal, part magical, battles his boyhood demons and emerges a young man ready to lead his band of men. Live performers interact with digital animation in a 21st century adaptation of a timeless legend. FINN is produced by Mabou Mines in association with Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, New York University.
