Tara Theatre in London has dedicated a three-week run of Eastern Star, a play about freedom of expression in Myanmar to the two Reuters journalists, U Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, given seven-year prison sentences in Yangon, for 'violating a state secrets act'. This project kicked off on January 2nd, 2018, with an open call to playwrights across North America. Over 250 playwrights submitted pitches inspired by three timely prompts, and now, after a rigorous three month process, the winning playwrights have been selected. They are: Marisa Carr, Sarah Loucks, and Charly Evon Simpson.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 150 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 48th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 12-16, 2016 in multiple locations throughout the Center.
