Art Miami New York, a new modern and contemporary art fair produced by the ownership team of Art Miami, launched on Thursday at Pier 94 with robust sales and strong attendance during the Press and VIP Preview. Within moments of opening the doors, significant works were acquired by prominent collectors, art advisors, and museum professionals.
The Parrish Art Museum presents the annual re-installation of its permanent collection galleries: The Permanent Collection: Art. Illuminated., featuring several important recent acquisitions, many on view for the first time. Marking the second anniversary of its Herzog & de Meuron-designed building (which opened in November 2012), the Parrish Art Museum has drawn works from its 3,000-piece collection, including some 80 paintings, sculptures, and works on paper, dating from the late 19th century to the present, shown in seven galleries. The installation remains on view through November 2015.
On Monday, September 29th, Cornelia Guest, Amanda Hearst, Anne Hearst McInerney, Patricia Hearst Shaw, Gillian Hearst Simonds and Kimberly Rockefellerhosted a reception for 400 and a dinner for 104 guests at The National Arts Club to celebrate the opening of 'Charles James: Beneath the Dress.' The exhibition of 100 fashion and erotic drawings from the private collection of R. Couri Hay, photographs by Anton Perich and a screening of the Charles James documentary by Angela Bernhard Thomas will run until October 5th.
The third edition of Art Southampton, the leading international contemporary and modern art fair for acquiring investment quality works of art opened last night with huge success, where top collectors, curators, art advisors and influencers kicked off the weekend-long event. Taking place on the 18-acre estate behind the Southampton Elks Lodge, the Platinum VIP saw over 1,500 top collectors of the East End, and throughout the elegant evening, attendance exceeded last year's VIP Preview of 4,200 guests. From July 20 through October 13, the Parrish Art Museum will present William Glackens-the first comprehensive survey of the artist's work since 1966. The exhibition spans Glackens's career from the 1890s through the 1930s, with more than 85 important paintings and works on paper from some of America's finest private and public collections, including the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, and the Cleveland Museum, among others. Several works in the exhibition are on view to the public for the first time since 1966.

The first long-term, outdoor installation at the Parrish Art Museum's new Herzog & de Meuron-designed building, the sculpture will be placed outdoors on the front lawn, west of the driveway entrance to the Museum, near Montauk Highway. Tokyo Brushstroke I & II is a long-term loan by the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation, courtesy of Glenn and Amanda Fuhrman and the Fuhrman Family Foundation.

The Parrish Art Museum's Alice Aycock Drawings: Some Stories Are Worth Repeating, an exhibition in two venues, in partnership with the Grey Art Gallery, New York University's fine-arts museum, is the first comprehensive exploration of this vital aspect of the renowned sculptor's creative process. The exhibition has been organized by Parrish Art Museum Adjunct Curator Jonathan Fineberg, Gutgsell Professor of Art History Emeritus at the University of Illinois, Urbana- Champaign. The exhibition traces Aycock's career from 1971 to the present, highlighting the major themes that have overned her artistic practice.
