Detroit Public Theatre has announced its Third Avenue Garage residencies and partnerships for 2022-2023.

Detroit Public Theatre (DPT) is thrilled to announce that they will be collaborating with the OBIE Award-winning, Harlem9, for a second 48Hours in...™Detroit play festival. The festival will follow the same format as the first 48Hours in...™Detroit, which took place in 2019 and consisted of 6 new 10-minute plays created over the course of 48 hours by native and current Detroit artists. 

Six years in the making, a dream is becoming a reality. Detroit Public Theatre (DPT) is establishing its own home in the heart of Midtown, Detroit’s cultural district, further securing its position as a fixture in Detroit’s cultural community.

In October 2020, Parent Artist Advocacy League (PAAL) and Blackboard Plays announced an open call for submissions to The Black Motherhood* and Parenting New Play Festival.

Dominique Morisseau will join Detroit Public Theatre as Executive Artistic Producer in November 2020. Morisseau will become a member of the leadership team working with founding Producing Artistic Directors Courtney Burkett, Sarah Clare Corporandy, and Sarah Winkler to shape the future artistic and community vision of this young regional theatre.

Rosalind Productions Inc, the Drama-Desk winning Tony-nominated production company will produce a virtual one-night-only production of Jennifer Maisel's Off-Broadway play THE LAST SEDER on April 11 at 7:00 pm EST/ 4:00 pm PST.

Yesterday was a banner day for native Detroiter and prolific playwright Dominique Morisseau. The MacArthur Foundation named her one of 25 creatives to receive a no-strings-attached $625,000 five-year 'Genius Grant.' The film of Lincoln Center's production of her play Pipeline was released for a very limited nationwide screening and it was the first preview performance that night of Pipeline, the headliner for Detroit Public Theatre's (DPT) Fourth Season.
