Samantha Sheppard is a multidisciplinary and community-engaged theater artist and Co Artistic Director of The Pack Theater. She has worked at the intersection of arts and social practice for over 15 years as an artist in residence at various schools and correctional facilities, and as a collaborating artist in San Francisco and New York City. As a performer, movement director, dramaturg, and producer, she has developed new projects with The Pack (Sex Play, New Ohio/Ice Factory and Triskelion Arts; False Stars, Paradise Factory/Corkscrew Festival and New Ohio/#americanAF; Future Honey, 59E59 and Edinburgh Fringe); Irondale Ensemble Project (To Protect, Serve & Understand - a project with NYPD officers and community members, Irondale Center); Andrew Hoepfner/Houseworld (site-specific); November Theatre (BABY FAT: Act 1, La MaMa); and with directors Anne Cecilia Haney, Jaki Bradley, Michael Scholar, Jr., Terry Greiss, and Nana Dakin. As an educator, she develops, coordinates, and facilitates art, violence prevention and sex ed curriculum in public schools, and occasionally facilitates sex ed, bystander intervention, and social practice workshops around NYC.
