Theatre industry leaders and editors of “Contemporary Black Theatre and Performance: Acts of Rebellion, Activism, and Solidarity” Martine Kei Green-Rogers, Khalid Y. Long, and DeRon S. Williams will be welcomed to The Understudy for a book signing on Monday, July 31st. The event will run from 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Goodman Theatre Announces Artistic Updates


With two major revivals on stage helmed by Artistic Collective members—August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean directed by Resident Director Chuck Smith (through February 27) and Manilow Resident Director Mary Zimmerman's The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci (February 11 – March 20)—the Goodman announces several artistic updates as its 2021/2022 “Homecoming” Season continues.

Brand new program Introduction to Stagecraft explores the artistry and craftsmanship that makes theater happen. Returning after a successful launch last summer are programs Alone Together, in which participants develop three-to-five-minute site-specific solo performance pieces; and Strike!: The Youth Political Theater Project, which sees the ensemble-based, youth-driven creation of new virtual theater pieces in response to events of the current political and social environment. These offerings join longtime programs GeNarrations and InterGens.

Artistic Director Robert Falls announces a virtual fundraiser to support Goodman GoodWork—inclusive of the theater's nationally-recognized, award-winning Education and Engagement programming. “Reimagining Tomorrow” centers on the possibility, opportunity and change in the American Theater after a time when remote work, e-learning and social distance have challenged the fundamental human connection at the industry's core.

Emmy Award-Winner Sean Hayes To Appear At Goodman Theatre's 2019 Education Luncheon


Goodman Theatre, now in its 95th season, announces the a?oeLegacy & Promisea?? Education and Engagement luncheon on Wednesday, February 5 featuring Emmy Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated actor Sean Hayes. Hayes joins the Goodman's Walter Director of Education and Engagement Willa J. Taylor and more for this 5th annual event, which celebrates the theater's programs for youth, schools and lifelong learners. Proceeds from the event support these programs, all of which are offered completely FREE of charge to participants and are 100% funded by individual contributions. Event leadership includes Joan Clifford, Immediate Past Chair and Benefit Events Leadership Chair; Patricia Cox, Education and Engagement Trustee Leadership Chair; Kathleen Cowie, Goodman Theatre Trustee and Education and Engagement Committee Chair; and Teri Brown and Lorrayne Weiss, Women's Board Education and Engagement Co-chairs. African American And Jewish American History Mix in THE GREEN BOOK


Pegasus Theatre Chicago, in association with ShPIeL Performing Identity, announce the Chicago premiere of The Green Book, inspired by Victor Green's historical, "The Negro Motorist Green Book," March 1 - April 1 at Pegasus's resident home Chicago Dramatists, 765 N. Aberdeen. The Green Book is written by Calvin A. Ramsey, and directed by Pegasus' Producing Artistic Director Ilesa Duncan. Previews are Thursday, March 1 and Friday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. Opening performance is Sunday, March 4 at 3 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays - Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. with added Sunday 6 p.m. performances.
