BIO
Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Nico began his training in gymnastics at the age of five, competing nationally and internationally as a member of Argentina’s National Gymnastics team. At the age of 16, after several successful years as an elite athlete, his passion for the performing arts led him to enroll in the professional program of the National Circus School of Argentina where he received his training as an aerialist and hand-balancer. Enjoying the versatility of contemporary circus arts, Nico has performed in some of the most prestigious theaters in the world, including Broadway, the Lincoln Institute, the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Theatre Carré, Calle Corrientes, Dubai's World Trade Center Arena, and Madison Square Garden, among others.
In 2006, the Argentinean Ministry of Culture recognized him with the Promising Young Talent award, and in 2007 he received the Artistic Excellence Award from the National Dance Institute. In 2015 he was awarded 1st place at the US Aerial Championship for his silks performance. At the age of 18 he was honored to receive the Traub scholarship to attend Harvard University, an opportunity to focus on his academic interests and also expand his artistic training. Upon graduating with honors, he's performed internationally with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.
Currently, he is playing the lead soloist role of Entu, in Cirque du Soleil’s TORUK, a show inspired in James Cameron’s blockbuster, Avatar. To find out more about him please visit www.nicomaffey.com
