Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival Announces 27th Season


Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival's 27th summer season will launch with the Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime and will feature three Shakespeare plays: the popular comedy Twelfth Night, the profound and lyrical history play King Richard II, and an actor-driven production of the spirited and bittersweet comedy All's Well That Ends Well. As the Festival continues its ambitious progression through the canon, King Richard II will be the 30th of Shakespeare's 38 plays PSF has produced. Rounding out the season will be the stage adaptation of the spectacular Shakespeare in Love, the most produced play in the nation this year following its run in London's West End.

'We are excited to be back in the performing saddle and having a blast working together. The show will be lots of fun with some sweet moments. And everyone will certainly relate to the universal themes in relationship dramas,' says Jenkins. 'We are also thrilled to be joined by Musical Director Andrew Smithson who was with us for our 2011 Harbor Lights' productions of Marry Me a Little, and Amahl and the Night Visitors, and is himself a consummate artist and musician. Veteran producer Pat Addiss (Buyer and Cellar, Love Letters) and Georganne Aldrich Heller (Howie the Rookie-Bam, Silent, Forgotten) president of Irish Theatre & Film Production (georgannealdricheller.com) have announced that they will join forces in presenting two invitation only, special staged readings of 'Loves of Picasso' written and directed by Terry D' Alfonso. The two readings will be held on October 9th at 2PM and 5pm at MOMA to coincide with museum's opening of the largest ever Picasso sculpture exhibit that same week. The script is based on the private life of Picasso, the women he loved and will include video installations conceived by Terry D' Alfonso.

New Yiddish Rep to Present Wolf Mankowitz Double Bill


New Yiddish Rep presents two one-act plays by the fascinating English-born polyglot Wolf Mankowitz -- both of which were also made into noteworthy British films -- "The Irish Hebrew Lesson," and the world premiere in Yiddish of "The Bespoke Overcoat."  A theatrical feast in three languages, New Yiddish Rep's Mankowitz double bill, entitled "2 by Wolf," runs from June 11 to July 2 at the cell, 338 West 23rd Street.  Moshe Yassur, the internationally acclaimed director of New Yiddish Rep's groundbreaking "Waiting for Godot" in Yiddish, will direct.
