Artistic Director David Ivers and Managing Director Paula Tomei today announce a new initiative, SCR Community, an online series of free readings, events, interviews and community-centered stories to engage Southern California with the power of live theatre during the COVID-19 pandemic. The series starts on Aug. 17, at 5:30 p.m., with MASA, a live, online fiesta with readings of four short pieces relating to the historical and cultural importance of masa.
Greg Kihn continues to pioneer the Rock and Roll thriller genre with his fifth novel, Rubber Soul, featuring The Beatles themselves. LA POSADA MAGICA had been a staple at the South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa for fifteen years. Simultaneously funny, dark and emotionally touching, Octavio Solis script is a classic holiday tale about the Christmas spirit lost, then found, enhanced with a score by Marcos Loya. Due to budget cuts, the production was eliminated from the SCR's 2009 line-up, much to the devastation of the community.
