New Opera about Robert Moses & Jane Jacobs, A MARVELOUS ORDER, Will Be Presented at Penn State University


ADH Theatricals has announced the world premiere of A Marvelous Order on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Penn State University’s Center for the Performing Arts. The new opera features music by Judd Greenstein, a libretto by former US Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy K. Smith, and animation and direction by Joshua Frankel.

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) presents the 16th annual River To River Festival, Downtown New York City's completely free summer arts festival, June 14-25. The 2017 edition presents an array of performances and events exploring and celebrating diversity in all its forms-often blurring the lines between genres including dance, music, theater and the visual arts-over the course of 100+ performances and events spanning 17 projects at 31 unique sites across Lower Manhattan and Governors Island. The Festival also offers opportunities for audiences to interact with artists, socialize and experience multiple facets of artists' work and the creative process.

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) proudly announces the third biennial gathering of the groundbreaking Stephen and Cynthia Rubin Institute for Music Criticism, taking place October 20-24. The first program of its kind to focus on the art of classical music criticism, the Rubin Institute brings together leading music critics, renowned musicians, and aspiring young writers for an intensive week of keynote addresses by critics, public performances, discussion panels, and critical reviews. The Institute will culminate with the awarding of the $10,000 Rubin Prize in Music Criticism to one of the university-level writers for demonstrating exceptional promise in music criticism, and the $1,000 Everyone's a Critic Audience Review Prize for the best review by an audience member of a concert performed during the Institute.

The Strange Tree Group presents the world premiere of the elaborate time travel comedy THE HALF-BROTHERS MENDELSSOHN by Elizabeth Bagby, directed by Thrisa Hodits, playing June 18 - July 20, 2013 at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 W. Berenice Ave. in Chicago. The production features Strange Tree Ensemble members Cory Aiello, Kate Nawrocki, Stuart Ritter and Jenifer Starewich with Audrey Flagel, Andy Hager, Brandon Ruiter and Joe Stearns. Winners of 2011 Lotte Lenya Competition Announced


Caitlin Mathes, mezzo-soprano of Dayville, Connecticut, won the $15,000 First Prize in the finals of the 2011 Lotte Lenya Competition, held on April 16, 2011, at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. Instead of awarding Second and Third Prizes, judges presented three equal prizes of $8,000 each to Jing Lin, soprano, of Putian, China; Emma Sewell, soprano, of London, England; and Jacob Lewis Smith, bass/baritone, of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
