Serenbe Playhouse and AIR Serenbe (the artist in residence program at Serenbe) are proud to announce a new play development program unlike any other: the 1st Annual New Territories Playwriting Residency, a Writers-in-Residence Program for Outdoor, Site-Specific Plays. New Territories will bring three playwrights to Chattahoochee Hills, GA to develop new outdoor, site-specific theatre from January 17-30, 2016.

Continuing its ongoing efforts of supporting the development of new musicals and plays under its SigWorks program, Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA is currently workshopping SCKBSTD by Grammy Award-winning composer/lyricist Bruce Hornsby, lyricist Chip deMatteo and book writer Joe Calarco (Shakespeare's R&J, Walter Cronkite is Dead) based on an original book by Clay McLeod Chapman (rest area, The Tribe Trilogy). The workshop will culminate in an invitation only presentation.

SCKBSTD - A New Musical by Bruce Hornsby broke sales records at its recent world premiere production in Norfolk, VA at Virginia Stage Company. A joint production with Mike Rafael and David Riemer of Spiral Staircase, the three-week run's total gross sales of $236,363 at the Wells Theatre made it the highest selling season production in VSC history. The show's sales even topped the Company's 1989 world premiere of the Broadway-bound Secret Garden.

Grammy Award winner Bruce Hornsby musical, entitled SCKBSTD features Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli and is directed by Tony winner John Rando. The production will close February 6, 2011. Virginia Stage Company will produce the world premiere of SCKBSTD, A New Musical by Bruce Hornsby as part of its 2010-2011 season, VSC Artistic Director Chris Hanna announced today. The production will be part of VSC's American Soil Project, the Company's multi-year new play development project that explores the cultural fabric of southeastern Virginia.
