Back by popular audience demand, local singer, Jaci Davis returns for her third appearance at the Arthur Newman Theater at the Joslyn Center in Palm Desert on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 2 PM in "Can't Help Singing". The show features Standards by composer Jerome Kern and marks the final show of the 7th season for the Sundays In Summer Cabaret Series produced by Les Michaels. Jaci Davis will be backed by a live trio made up of Derrik Lewis on piano, Bill Siatta on bass, and Doug MacDonald on acoustic guitar. Tickets are $11 cash only and sold only at the door, which opens at 1 PM with open seating at 1:30 PM.

Jaci Davis is a well-known local vocalist, music director, piano and voice teacher who holds both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music. She plays and sings regularly at several local churches and clubs throughout the valley. Her show last season, "Live! Laugh! Love", was nearly sold-out and received a standing ovation. For "Can't Help Singing", Ms. Davis pays tribute to legendary music composer Jerome Kern, and many of his songs that are now considered Standards in The Great American Songbook from Broadway and Hollywood musicals including; All The Things You Are, Dearly Beloved, A Fine Romance, I'm Old Fashioned, The Last Time I Saw Paris, Long Ago And Far Way, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, The Way You Look Tonight, and the timeless classic musical, Show Boat, whose story line was considered highly controversial in 1927. Kern's worked with great lyricists like Dorothy Fields, Ira Gershwin, Johnny Mercer, and Oscar Hammerstein, with songs recorded by countless singers to this day. For Ms. Davis' show, "Can't Help Singing", the music will be provided by Bill Siatta on bass, Doug MacDonald on acoustic guitar, and on piano will be Jaci's musical director Derrik Lewis. A few of Derrik's credits include many Hollywood films, and a series regular on Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea. Locally he has had leading roles in Gigi, Peter Pan, La Cage Aux Folles, and Zanadu at Palm Canyon Theatre. He produced the long-running Musical Chairs, and currently performs with his trio every Tuesday and Thursdayin the Coral Seas Lounge at Tropical in Palm Springs, and is the lead in the Hi-Desert Playhouse production of Dracula, which runs through October 31st.
