Lizzie Borden took an axe,
And gave her mother forty whacks;
When she saw what she had done,
She gave her father forty-one.
Did you Lizzie? Lizzie did you? Lizzie Borden will not say. Acquitted of the brutal murders of her father and stepmother, for ten years Miss Lizzie has held her tongue. Tonight, will she finally tell the tale?
This riveting psychological murder mystery is based on the true story of Lizzie Borden, who may or may not have killed her own blood relations in Fall River, Massachusetts, in 1893. The murder remains unsolved.
Renowned playwright Sharon Pollock is the recipient of the Governor General’s Award for Blood Relations and Doc, the Canada Australian Literary Award, a Japan Foundation Award, the Nellie Drama Award for Sweet Land of Liberty, and a Golden Sheaf Award for her writing for television.
