Ottawa Arts Council Partners with Hors Pair Social to Elevate the Mandala Project in its Third Year
The event is set for February 20, 2024.
The Ottawa Arts Council’s Mandala Project is now in its third year. As they move forward in their mission to elevate IBPOC artists, they are partnering with Hors Pair Social for The Ottawa Black Creatives Hub Performing Arts Showcase they are hosting in collaboration with the Algonquin Students’ Association. This event is supported by the Algonquin Commons Theatre, the City of Ottawa and Youth Action Now.
The Ottawa Black Creatives Hub Performing Arts Showcase was created to celebrate Black History Month. It is an art show featuring some of the best black emerging artists in Ottawa. This event showcases performances in music, poetry, dance, storytelling, film and more. Additionally, there will be speakers representing various artistic organizations including the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition and the Cranium Festival.
The Ottawa Black Creatives Hub is a social club within Hors Pair Social. Their mission is to create spaces for black creatives in the capital to meet up, learn and network, with three main goals in mind:

Showcasing Black Art and Creativity
Hors Pair Social is a social group and events company based in Ottawa. It was founded by community-builder, Sharlène Clarke, in response to the gap in entertainment for young black adults in the capital. HPS hosts and curates social and entertainment events and was nominated the best event planning company at the 2023 Ottawa Awards hosted by Faces Magazine.
For over 40 years, the Ottawa Arts Council has worked to advance, promote and advocate for the arts in Ottawa. As a commitment to IBPOC artists, the Council created the Mandala Project, an initiative launched in response to the call from Ottawa’s IBPOC Arts Community for stronger representation and advocacy within the arts sector. We are very happy to be able to partner with Hors Pair Social through Mandala.
