Mary James and the Mean Mary Band will headline the May 23, New Spirit Cafe show at ACA in Positively Florida's Jazz & More series. Mary’s music, called Americana, is a unique blend of folk, blues, rock, country and bluegrass. Mary comes to us fresh off a headline performance at the 75th annual Florida Folk Festival. She earned acclaim as a child prodigy playing on the streets of Nashville and went on to become a modern phenomenon with 38 million views of her YouTube videos. An award-winning musician and songwriter, her rendition of the folk classic Wayfaring Stranger is featured in the just released motion picture Hellfire, starring Stephen Lang, Scottie Thompson, and Harvey Keitel. She keeps the house expecting the unexpected as she sets the pace on banjo, fiddle, and guitar. Mary appears with a trio that includes her brother Frank James, a noted guitarist in his own right, and delivers a show that’s feel-good, full of surprises, and steeped in rhythm and story. Called a “startling talent” by the Tennessean, Mary James has performed as a headliner at over 4,000 festivals and concerts. Beverage bar (beer/wine) and light snacks available. Seating at 4-top tables. Purchase 4 tickets and reserve a table in your name. Theater seating is on chairs on risers. $35 table seating, $30 theater seating on the risers.
