By:

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF celebrates its 25th season with the Orlando Shakes Open House. Guests will enjoy building tours, music, crafts, and theater games, as well as an open rehearsal of Orlando Shakes' upcoming production of The Taming of the Shrew. Sponsored by Seaside National Bank, the celebration is free to the public and takes place on August 24, 2013 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. inside the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center in Loch Haven Park.

Orlando Shakespeare Theater's 2013-2014 lineup marks 25 seasons for the major Central Florida arts destination. During the Orlando Shakes Open House, staff members will take guests on a tour of the scene shop, costume shop, and four performance spaces, offering historical information, providing behind-the-scenes access, and sharing fun facts about the Theater. Visitors will also get a sneak peek at Orlando Shakes' Wild West inspired production of The Taming of the Shrew. Free music, crafts, and theater games will take place in the Theater lobby, with complimentary birthday cupcakes to all partygoers. RSVP at http://ost25.eventbrite.com/.

"We are very excited about kicking off our 25th Anniversary Season with the Open House," said PJ Albert, Managing Director. "We strive each year to offer something for every age range, and this is the opportunity for Central Florida community members to discover what speaks to them. This is also a chance to experience a rare behind-the-scenes look at our theater complex."

Other 25th Anniversary special events include the Gala Celebration on September 8, 2013 at 5 p.m. and a free Shakespeare Movie in the Park on April 26, 2013 at 8 p.m. Further information about the Open House and other 25th Anniversary special events is available by calling (407) 447-1700, visiting www.orlandoshakes.org, or in person at the Box Office located inside the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 East Rollins Street.

The Orlando Shakes Open House is sponsored by Seaside National Bank. Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF is supported by United Arts of Central Florida with funds from the United Arts campaign and by State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Arts Council.
