Mad Cow Theatre Presents THE HISTORY BOYS, Now thru 9/7

By:

Mad Cow Theatre has announced its run of Alan Bennett's The History Boys in The Harriett Theatre, from today, August 8 - September 7, 2014.

Alan Bennett's brilliantly witty, perceptive tale is of an unruly handful of senior schoolboys, preparing for coveted places at either Oxford or Cambridge under the tutelage of their somewhat "old-school" history teacher. An unusual approach to their studies is questioned when a new young history teacher joins the staff with strong views of his own. The History Boys is a compelling exploration of both the anarchy of adolescence and the very purpose of education itself, but it's also a wonderful feel-good evening, shot through with Alan Bennett's masterful wit and abundant humanity - quite simply a must-see.

The cast of The History Boys features Tommy Keesling (Table Manners, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) as Headmaster, Philip Nolen (Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Private Lies, Amadeus) as Hector, Peter Travis (Cock, Death of a Salesman, Mrs. Warren's Profession, Mass Appeal) as Irwin, Robin Olson (Death of a Salesman, August Osage County, The Road to Mecca) as Mrs. Lintott, AJ Nickell (debut) as Akthar, Adam Reilly (debut) as Crowther, Robert Johnston (The Light in the Piazza) as Dakin, Joshua Roth (debut) as Lockwood, Jeffrey Todd Parrott (debut) as Posner, Sean Michael Flynn (Hair) as Rudge, Matt Lipscomb (debut) as Scripps and Ryan Bathurst (debut) as Timms.

Mark Edward Smith makes his Mad Cow directorial debut, with stage management by Melissa Cooper (Other Desert Cities, Science Play Festival), lighting design by John Hemphill (The Lion in Winter, 25th Annual Putnam Co. Spelling Bee, Gone Missing), costume design by Marco T. Magno (debut), set design by William Elliott (Other Desert Cities, Table Manners & Hair), sound design debut by Michael Powers, musical consultant Phillip King (Orlando Cabaret Festival, Hair) and painting by Lisa Buck (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Hair).

The History Boys runs from August 8 - September 7, 2014 in The Harriett Theatre at Mad Cow Theatre, 54 West Church Street (Second Floor) in Downtown Orlando.
