Mad Cow Theatre is delighted to announce the cast and creative team for Eugene O'Neill's dramatic masterpiece LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, opening March 18, 2016 in the Harriett Theatre as the sixth production of Mad Cow Theatre's Season 19.

In LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, the Nobel Prize-winning playwright tells the semi-autobiographical story of the Tyrone clan -- father James, a once-famous classical actor; Mary, his morphine-addicted wife; and their two grown sons, the ne'er-do-well James Jr., or Jamie, and the intellectual, romantic Edmund, a stand-in for the playwright himself. As the day unfolds in their house on the fog-bound shores of Long Island Sound, the four Tyrones try ever more desperately to hold together a household that is doomed.

Written in 1941 and 1942 but not performed until 1956, LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT won the 1957 Pulitzer Prize. It is considered O'Neill's greatest work.

The cast of LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT features Adam Reilly (Clybourne Park, Photograph 51) as Edmund Tyrone, Kristian Truelsen* (A Delicate Balance) as James Tyrone, and Peg O'Keef (August: Osage County, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) as Mary Cavan Tyrone. Mad Cow welcomes newcomers Gregg Weiner and Julie Snyder for LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT. Gregg Weiner* plays James Tyrone, Jr. and Julie Snyder plays the maid Cathleen.

Director Mark Edward Smith (Art, My Name Is Asher Lev) continues his long association with Mad Cow Theatre with his staging of LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT. Scenic design is by William Elliott, lighting design is by Erin Miner, costume design is by Charlie Nebe, props are by Lisa Buck, and stage management is by Karen Stephenson.
