Mad Cow Theatre continues Season 20 with George Bernard Shaw's masterpiece Pygmalion, opening Nov. 18, 2016 in the Harriett Theatre.

Pygmalion, the 103-year-old comic forerunner to the musical-theatre favorite My Fair Lady, has never been so timely as it is now during a season when the conflicts between men and women and between rich and poor have taken America's center stage.

Mad Cow Theatre is located on the second floor of 54 W. Church St. in downtown Orlando. Regular tickets range from $26-$40, available at 407-297-8788 or madcowtheatre.com.

Somewhere between its manifestation in Greek mythology and My Fair Lady, Pygmalion invaded the mind of George Bernard Shaw, one of Mad Cow's favorite playwrights. With his extraordinary wit, he seized upon the theme of human transformation. Is reinvention possible? What is lost in the process? With a sly target pinned on the class system, gender stereotypes, language, and middle-class morality, Shaw created his most popular play and gave birth to some of theatre's most beloved characters: Henry Higgins and Eliza Doolittle. A play certain to lift your heart and challenge your assumptions, Pygmalion never ceases to entertain. A perfect holiday treat.

"George Bernard Shaw is a huge part of Mad Cow's DNA with our previous productions of Candida, Major Barbara and Mrs. Warren's Profession. As part of our 20th anniversary season?, we celebrate our love of all things Shavian with ?this production of Pygmalion, an enlightening? story of social class and wealth" said MiTzi Maxwell, Executive Director.

"Written in 1912, Pygmalion reflects Shaw's social commentary during a time of great upheaval, when women's suffrage was front and center and the Victorian era was shattered with conversation about equality of the sexes. Add a big dollop of redemption and you have Pygmalion, George Bernard Shaw's comedy with a bite and his most beloved and popular play, perfect for our time."
