King Center for the Performing Arts Stages HAIRSPRAY, Now thru 7/21

By:

King Center for the Performing Arts of Brevard Community College and The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse, through special arrangements with Music Theatre International (MTI) and under the direction of Anastacia Hawkins-Smith, present Broadway's musical comedy hit HAIRSPRAY, tonight, July 19-21, 2013. The production features a cast of students from the five-week long Summer Musical Theatre Project.

The fun continues as the cast of students from the Summer Musical Theatre Project get ready to hit the stage with the culmination of the five-week long project, Broadway's musical comedy hit, HAIRSPRAY. The winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, HAIRSPRAY is a family-friendly musical piled bouffant high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs.

It's 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire -- to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network, all without denting her 'do! Come on out and support our strong cast of singers, dancers and other behind the scene roles made up from students in our Space Coast area. It's going to be a great show.

HAIRSPRAY runs tonight- Saturday, July 19-20, 7:30pm & Sunday, July 21, 2pm. Tickets on Sale Now. Ticket Price - Students, Seniors and Children 12 & under - $12 (inclusive of ticketing fees).
