Dinner with Friends by Donald Margulies opens April 29 with additional performances on May 6 and 13, 2012. All performances are Sunday evenings at 7:30. This popular Bay Street Players' Second Stage series brings newer works and alternative theater to its audience.

This winner of Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2000 is called "a rueful comedy" by the author. Dinner with Friends is a funny yet bittersweet examination of the married lives of two couples who have been close for years. Over the course of the play, we see both couples at different ages and stages of their lives and we see the effects of Tom and Beth's marital breakup on long-time friends Gabe and Karen. Margulies characters are real, they are normal; they are family, friends and the people next door.

Jennifer Bonner, Daniel Jordan and the husband and wife team of Dina and Rick Paulin are featured in this play directed by Joel Warren.

This play premiered in 1998 and opened Off Broadway in November 1999. Dinner with Friends was the winner of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Outer Critics Circle Award. The play was adapted for a television movie starring Dennis Quaid, Andie MacDowell, Greg Kinnear and Toni Collette. This show is recommended for mature audiences.

The production will be held at the historic State Theatre located at 109 North Bay Street, downtown Eustis. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Call the box office for reservations at 352-357-7777, or book online at www.baystreetplayers.org.
