Teens ‘N' Theater will present its 14th AnnuAl Young Playwrights Festival at 7 pm on May 7th and at 4:30 pm on May 9th and 10th in the Hitchcock Studio Theater at The Rose, 2001 Farnam Street. This year's Young Playwrights Festival will feature five original plays written by teen playwrights, performedby an ensemble cast of 30 actors, and directed by Rose educators Kevin Ehrhart and Mari Martinez.

The collection of plays chosen for this year's show was written by teens during The Rose's year-long Young Playwrights class and represents a variety of styles, themes and subject matter.Just a DateWritten by Elisabeth Astwood (Student at Millard West High School) Directed by Mari MartinezKory, a high school boy, is jealous when his best friend, Annie, is asked to go on a date.

He's tempted to spy on Annie's date, but is worried about the consequences.NarratorWritten by Steph Galvin (Student at Millard North High School)Directed by Mari MartinezThis romantic comedy is about a man who is compelled to find romance of his own after narrating to an audience his best friend's path towards love. 

The Madmen Written by C. Dan Burgdorf (Student at Omaha North High School)

What happens when one society rules the world? In this futuristic drama, change is the enemy and anyone who dares to attempt it is declared a madman and locked away.

Pixel Wants an Update

Pixel is a 2007 Motorola RAZR phone and every complaint becomes an insult when her owner, Brittany, decides that Pixel is getting too slow. After everything Pixel has done to keep up with Brittany's obsession with texting, it's apparent that trouble is brewing!

Directed by Kevin EhrhartA group of teens discover that they have already learned a great deal about life as they ponder writing a letter to their future spouses.

Tickets to the 14th AnnuAl Young Playwrights Festival are $6 each and available through The Rose Box Office at (402) 345-4849. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Box Office, 2001 Farnam Street, in advance or the day of show.The Teens ‘N' Theater program at The Rose Theater is designed to help instill strong self-esteem, commitment and responsibility in young people, while helping them to develop theatrical skills in performance, playwriting, directing, and technical support.
