The Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP) and its Board of Trustees are pleased to announce that Omahan Katie Broman has accepted the position of executive director of The Playhouse. After a national search, Broman has been chosen to fill the position in early January 2017. She will work with current OCP President Tim Schmad before his retirement on January 31, 2017. Omaha Community Playhouse is the nation's largest community theatre and is currently in its 92nd season, producing nine regular season productions each year.

"We are happy to announce that Katie Broman has been selected as the executive director to lead the Omaha Community Playhouse and continue its excellence into the future," OCP Board of Trustees chairwoman Norma Riley said. "Her energy, enthusiasm, knowledge and talents will serve OCP well. The Board of Trustees is looking forward to working closely with Katie."

Broman's involvement with Omaha Community Playhouse goes back several years. She was director of marketing and public relations at OCP from 2010 to 2015. She also held a marketing internship at OCP while pursuing her bachelor's degree. Broman holds a B.S. in journalism with an emphasis in advertising and public relations from University of Nebraska at Omaha and a master's of public administration with an emphasis in nonprofit management from UNO.

"Katie Broman was an exceptional candidate in the national search, bringing great ideas and goals to the interview along with unmatched vitality and passion for The Playhouse," said OCP Executive Vice President of the Board of Trustees and chairwoman of the search committee Mary Anne Ramge. "Katie's familiarity with unique Playhouse challenges, staff and supporters will also help with a seamless transition to a bright future. We expect this will result in an even better experience for The Playhouse team who give so much of themselves, and the audiences that will enjoy the exceptional shows."

Broman is director of marketing and public relations at Opera Omaha and currently serves on the board for Omaha Academy of Ballet. She previously held the position of marketing specialist at Metropolitan Community College.

"I'm thrilled to be returning to OCP," said Broman. "It is an organization that has made a tremendous impact on me, as well as so many others for the past 92 years. Theatre is an extremely powerful and moving art form. When a community comes together to create theatre with one another and for one another, I believe the impact can be extraordinary. OCP is that community gathering place for us to create joy, elicit emotions, tell stories, challenge perceptions, develop empathy and so much more with one another through theatre."
