Spring Renewal drives the joy of American Classical Orchestras (ACO) first-ever performance of Bachs Easter Oratorio, written in Leipzig at the height of Bachs musical powers. Unlike his many large-scale works that use extensive narration, the Easter Oratorio humanizes Biblical characters by assigning the roles of John the Baptist, Mary Magdalene, Mary Jacobe, and Simon Peter to solo singers. Led by ACO Founder and Director Thomas Crawford, our program brings in the acclaimed ACO chorus and distinguished soloists: soprano Chloe Holgate, mezzo-soprano Helen Karloski, tenor Lawrence Jones, and bass Steven Eddy. Also on the program is Bachs most famous motet: Jesu, meine Freude.
