An Afternoon with Lorenzo Da Ponte on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 3 PM at the historic Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral, corner Mott and Prince Streets, in Little Italy. The world-renowned Opera Carlo Felice from Genoa Italy presents an exclusive one-time performance on the final day of the San Gennaro festival Sponsored by Friends of the Erben Organ as part of their “Erben Renewal Concerts” series and featuring musicians from Italy and the US performing handpicked pieces written by Lorenzo Da Ponte, Mozart’s close friend and librettist. This is a unique performance you won't want to miss! One of the featured singers is a an up and coming opera singer to watch, soprano Amani Cole-Felder, a recent graduate of the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. Following the performance a plaque will be dedicated to Lorenzo Da Ponte, who was a parishioner of the Basilica and whose massive funeral mass was held there in 1838. “Erben Renewal Concerts” is made possible in part with funds from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Creative Engagement program, a re-grant program supported by The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) in partnership with the City Council, and The New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and administered by the LMCC.
