The AACM New York City Chapter, Inc. 60th Anniversary Celebration is celebrating the

legacy of co-founder Dr. Muhal Richard Abrams, with original music, films, a panel/listening party, spread across four days in October and November 2025, Mistress of Ceremonies Richarda Abrams.

In October AACM New York City Chapter, Inc launches their 60th Anniversary Celebration at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music in Manhattan, with a collaboration with The S.E.M.Ensemble, under the direction of Petr Kotik, who has been collaborating with AACM New York City Chapter, Inc. since 1995, at the invitation of Dr. Muhal Richard Abrams.

Saturday, October 18, 2025, 7pm doors open at 6pm, The Orchestra of the S.E.M. Ensemble, Conductor Petr Kotik performs the music of the World Renowned AACM New York City Chapter, Inc. Composers, Amina Claudine MyersLeonard E. Jones, Adegoke Steve Colson, Chico Freeman, Reggie Nicholson, Thurman Barker and Dr. Muhal Richard Abrams at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music in Manhattan.

Saturday, October 25, 2025, 7pm, doors open at 6pm AACM New York City Chapter, Inc presents a Piano Series dedicated to Dr. Muhal Richard Abrams with Adegoke Steve Colson and (AACM NYC Special Guest) David Virelles, and the Amina Claudine Myers Trio featuring Reggie Nicholson on percussion and Jerome Harris on bass at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music in Manhattan. David Virelles was introduced to Dr. Muhal Richard Abrams by longtime AACM New York City Chapter, Inc. member Henry Threadgill.

About the AACM The Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), is a non- profit tax-exempt arts organization co-founded in 1965 by Dr. Muhal Richard Abrams, Jodie Christian, Kelan Phil Cohran, and Steve McCall, is one of the oldest musicians associations in the United States. Since its founding in Chicago, Illinois in 1965, the organization's members have developed a body of work that encompasses the spectrum of traditional and contemporary music. The AACM New York City Chapter, Inc. a non-profit tax-exempt entity was established in 1983 by AACM members who moved to New York. The AACM is significantly unique in that it has nurtured and brought to fruition so many accomplishedcomposers and performers. The organization’s artists have developed a body of work that has achieved lasting significance across borders of music genres and geography to play a critical role in the ever evolving process of music creation and its vital influence throughout the world. AACM members who have been featured in our programs include:

Jones, Joseph Jarman, Leroy Jenkins, Kalaparusha Ahra Difda, Lester Bowie, Steve McCall, Fred Anderson, John Stubblefield and Fred Hopkins. AACM New York City Chapter, Inc. continues to produce concerts annually in New York. Our members have received degrees from top Universities and have expertise in many areas ie. artists, painters, and novelists. Because of the AACM New York City Chapter, Inc. our members have gained international recognition as accomplished musicians and composers, many of whom have been invited by renowned orchestras throughout the USA and Europe to perform their music. Our members are master musician composers and have taught in major universities all over the world.

This concert is part of the AACM New York City Chapter, Inc. Concert Series that is held annually in New York.
