{Your Name Here} A Queer Theater and The Tank to Present JULIET & ROMEO, 6/15-23

{YOUR NAME HERE} (David Macke, Artistic Director) and The Tank will present William Shakespeare's JULIET & ROMEO, as adapted and directed by Mark Duncan and Conceived by Victoria Tucci. This version takes the story of the star-crossed lovers and recasts them as a lesbian couple set in modern day America. Through this queer lens, the themes of hate become more prescient as we explore what happens when LGBT youth are not given the support they need.

The Equity Approved Showcase that features Martha Wollner and John Austin Wiggins is being presented at the Tank (151 West 46th Street, 8th Floor) on June 15, 21, & 22 at 9:30 pm and June 16 & 23 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 and available at the Tank's website (www.thetanknyc.org) and our website (www.yournamehereqtc.org/event/juliet-and-romeo).

This is {YOUR NAME HERE}'s first production using Theatre as Advocacy. Theatre as Advocacy is a philosophy of theatre making which uses storytelling to inspire, educate, and activate our audience about particular political or social justice issues. Through the production itself, after-show talk backs and educational materials made available at each performance our audiences leave the theatre with the tools and resources needed to go out and create change in the world! The company will be also be reaching out beyond New York City; contacting members of our hometowns and high schools and asking for their thoughts and experiences surrounding support. Using this feedback alongside national statistics, we will be using Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr (http://letters2&romeoqtc.tumblr.com) to send out messages of support as well as suggestions of how each and every person can help support the queer youth in their own communities.
