Motormophosis and Hitchhiking- Two short plays by Václav Havel

DATE: Wednesday, June 15
TIME: 7pm
LOCATION: Bohemian National Hall, 321 E 73rd St

DETAILS:
June is Havel month at UTC61! At the end of June, we will be presenting the English language premiere of Václav Havel's The Pig, but this Wednesday you have an opportunity to see two other short plays by Václav Havel--for FREE!

This will be the FIRST EVER ENGLISH LANGUAGE PRESENTATION of Hitchhiking, which is being presented as a staged reading, and a remount of the WORLD PREMIERE of Motormorphosis, a puppet production being performed in full for the first time since our Havel Festival.

Originally written in the 1960's for Ivan Vysko?il (though never performed) these plays were always meant to be paired, but this is the first time they have ever been presented together. Both plays employ the absurdist sensibilities Havel would later become famous for; in Hitchhiking two elderly ladies look to find adventure by hitchhiking for the first time, while Motormorphosis parodies Czech society's transformative lust for cars.

Hitchhiking is translated by Edward Einhorn; directed by Tom Berger; and stars Uma Incrocci, Yvonne Roen, and Andrew Schechter

Motormorphosis is translated by Carol Rocamora; is directed, designed, and performed by Tanya Khordoc and Barry Weil;, and features the music of William Niederkorn. This is a co-production with Evolve Company

PLUS: A special preview of The Pig, or Vaclav Havel's Hunt for a Pig, being presented June 29 - July 2 as part of the Ice Factory.

This event is FREE and open to the public
