Transcendent Ensemble Theatre to Stage TITUS ANDRONICUS, 9/6-15
Transcendent Ensemble Theatre Company, a New York-based experimental theatre company, will present their inaugural production of a new adaptation of Shakespeare's TITUS ANDRONICUS at The Kraine Theatre located at 85 East 4th Street (between 2nd & Bowery) September 6th, 7th, 13th, & 14th at 7:30pm and September 8th & 15th at 2:00pm.
TITUS ANDRONICUS is an Actors Equity Association Basic Showcase and features Don Meehan* (Titus), Marca Leigh* (Tamora), Gil Perez-Abraham* (Bassianus). Patrick Toon* (Marcus), and Matt Weiss* (Lucius/ Quintus). Other ensemble members include: Kalen Boyd (Demetrius), Sarah Charles (Lavinia), Leslie Gauthier (The Nurse), Benoit Johnson (Aaron the Moor), Daniel O'Neill (Chiron), Drew Smartt (Saturninus/ Martius), and Lucas Womack (Young Lucius/ Mutius).
The production team includes: Lindsay Bartlette Allen (Founder of Transcendent/ Director of TITUS ANDRONICUS); Amy Sims (Stage Manager/ Company Photographer); Becca Freund (Costume Design); Lila Neiswanger (Lighting Design); Collin McConnell (Fight Coordinator).
Allen describes the show as, "a highly-adapted, movement-driven take on Shakespeare's revenge story that highlights the humanity behind the choices each character makes in moments of extreme crisis".
"As a woman working on 'TITUS', it is important to me to highlight the vulnerability in Tamora and bring out the fighter within Lavinia to showcase their journeys through this male-driven play," says Allen.
