THE PROCESS GROUP presents its 3rd Annual Required Reading Series: 5 Weeks, 5 new plays by up-and-coming and established American Playwrights Sunday Nights: January 30th-March 6th 9PM (excluding February 6th, Superbowl Sunday) at The Workshop Theater 312 West 36th Street.

THE PROCESS GROUP presents "gentlef*cknation" a retro-hyper-realistic drama scored in latin grooves by johnMichael Rossi, directed by Marc Stuart Weitz, January 30th 9PM. A neighborhood undergoes a process of gentrification and unexplainable climate change as a community of characters wash out their insides. With Derek Cecil (TV: star of "Push: Nevada," "Pasadena", "Treme," "Grey's Anatomy," FILM: "Men In Black II," "Mall Cop"), SETH REICH (THEATER: A.R.T.'s "Richard III," A.R.T.'s "Highway Ulysses," Commonwealth Shakespeare's "Henry V"), Jason SweetTooth Williams (OFF-BWAY: Joe Iconis' "The Black Suits," Joe Iconis' "Things To Ruin,") EMILY ZACHARIUS (BWAY: "Jekyll & Hyde," "What's Wrong With This Picture," Chu Chem") ", Amanda Sayle (OFF-BWAY: "Hellhouse," FILM: "Tom's Phone"), MACK EXCECIUS (THEATER: "The Brothers Size"), JENNY GRACE (FILM: "Summertime," THEATER: World Premier "Walking From Rumania," "Hamlet"), David GoldBERG (NY THEATER: World Premier "Population: 8"), and Jacob Ming-Trent (BWAY: Shrek: The Musical).

On February 13th at 9PM, TPG presents "The Art Room" By Billy Aronson, directed by Bryan Close. Never produced in New York, but lauded in Wolly Mammoth's 1999 production, "The Art Room" is an endearing romance, a classic Feydeau farce reimagined in a topsy-turvy mental ward. The perfect play to celebrate Valentines Day in a crazy, love-struck world.


On February 20th, 9PM, TPG presents "The Dying Words of Edison Strange" by Nicholas Gray, directed by Braden LuBell. With: Denise Lute (BWAY: "Bug," "Monday After The Miracle.") BROOKE DELANEY (OFF BWAY: "Chambermaid for Dramahaus," Storyteller for The Moth) Jenny Grace (FILM: "Summertime," NY THEATER: "Walking From Rumania," "Savage In Limbo") .

On February 27th, 9PM, TPG presents "Relent," a play with music by Jennifer Makholm, lyrics by Jennifer Makholm, music by Ian Wherle, directed by Marc Stuart Weitz. A pitch-black romanitic comedy set in the gentrified slums of Bushwick about two musicians, both lead singers in their own bands, who, despite unrelenting betrayals and high-strung antics just can't quit each other. With ROSEBUD BAKER (TV: Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys, OFFBWAY: "Vital Signs" ), SHONDA ROBBINS (THEATER: World Premier "Severence," TPG's "Population: 8" ), LAUREN SHANNON ( FILM: "The Unidentified," "Northeast," THEATER: Flea Theater's "The Director").

And, finishing our series with a bang on March 6th at 9PM, is "The Hebrew Hammer," a musical based on Jonathan Kessleman's film "The Hebrew Hammer," book by David Bar Katz and Jonathan Kessleman, Music by Adam Gardner (Guster), and Dave Schneider (The Zambonis), directed by David Bar Katz.

ABOUT THE PROCESS GROUP THEATER COMPANY: Founded in 2007, The Process Group is a woman-owned, woman-run not-for-profit theater company that grants artists -- playwrights, actors, and directors -- the opportunity to fully explore and cultivate the art of theater-making. The Process Group incubates work from a first draft to a professional production.
