The Dirty Blondes Announce REVELATIONS 12:19 at Jack NYC

By:

Revelations 12:19 will feature live music by the multi-talented creator of White Girl Problems (www.babewalker.com) and star of the 2008 film Were the World Mine, Tanner Cohen, Blondes' veteran guitarist Seon Gomez of Pictures of the Sun, and folk-singer Sarah Mischner of Thee Shambels.

From the anticipated end of the Mayan calendar on December 21st, the predictions of infamously incorrect soothsayer Harold Camping, the resurgence of evangelical second-coming prophecies, and unyielding natural disasters reminiscent of the end-of-days, there has been an awful amount of musings on the end of the world and the absurd role religion will play in our eventual, collective demise.

As a new approach to script development, resident playwright Ashley Jacobson has selected interviews, letters and passages that expose the mixed messages of religion in these confusing times; the ability of religion to capitalize on fear; and the possible ways to maintain peace, calm, and even compassion. Against the backdrop of the final days on earth and the second coming of Christ, six actors and a chorus of angels with present a forum for a world torn apart by opposing sacred beliefs, hypocrisy, and intolerance. An informal reception following the performance will allow audience members to interact with the cast and creators. Revelations 12:19 will also act as an exposé of literature informing Jacobson's writing of The Dirty Blondes' next new work The Miracle Play slated for a spring 2013 debut in New York City. Audience feedback will directly affect the new piece.

All proceeds from this event will go directly toward The Miracle Play suggested donation is $10. The Dirty Blondes will also be accepting donations of items for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Visit http://www.thedirtyblondes.org to purchase tickets.

Found texts include: Westboro Baptist Church, Pat Robertson, The Crucible, Medieval Morality Tales, Judie Brown of the American Life League, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Poems of Jesus Christ.
