THE MORNING AFTER / THE NIGHT BEFORE Closes At NY Fringe 8/28

Jeff Bienstock's new musical comedy THE MORNING AFTER / THE NIGHT BEFORE, directed by Diana Glazer, will get its World Premiere at the 2010 New York International Fringe Festival. THE MORNING AFTER / THE NIGHT BEFORE will begin performances on August 18 - 28 at NYC's Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher St).

In writer/composer Jeff Bienstock's hilarious farce, THE MORNING AFTER / THE NIGHT BEFORE a young man wakes up after a wild party to discover his best friend-an actress on the verge of getting married to an older man-lying asleep beside him. With the help of his friends, including a flaky attorney/drug dealer, a beautiful (but frigid) doctor, and a hot-to-trot guitarist with mother issues, our protagonist must overcome a whopping hangover to uncover the truth behind his fuzzy memories of the previous evening. The action bounces back and forth in time until not even the characters themselves are sure if they are experiencing the remorse of The Morning After . . . or the ecstasy of The Night Before.

The cast includes: Jed Resnick (Avenue Q, RENT US Tour), Whit Baldwin (NYMF's That Other Woman's Child, A Little Night Music, Baltimore Center Stage), Jason Collins ("The L Word", Signs of Life), Shira Gregory (Frost/Nixon), Michelle K. Moore (Mamma Mia, Las Vegas), Max Spitulnik (With Glee), Meg Steedle (Film Slit and Commit), with guest stars to be announced later.

JEFF BIENSTOCK (writer/composer) was born in Los Angeles, CA, and grew up in nearby Santa Monica. At a young age, Jeff showed a talent for both music and the English language, winning several regional writing contests as well as Occidental College's Howard Swan Award for instrumental performance. After earning his BA in Music Composition from Occidental in 2004 and scoring several award-winning short films and commercials, he traveled East to earn an MA at NYU's Steinhardt School and pursue a career in musical theater. In 2007, with the encouragement of mentor and friend Joe church, Jeff created The Morning After / The Night Before (book, music, and lyrics) for his Masters recital; the show has since taken on a life of its own, winning a slot in the 2010 New York Fringe Festival and finishing as a finalist in NYMF's First Link Project. Jeff has been a member of the prestigious BMI Lehman Engel Workshop for the last two years. Current collaborations include a musicalization of the comic strip Calvin & Hobbes with composer Brian A. Hobbs, and a musical version of the 1957 film A Face In The Crowd with composer/lyricist Eric March.

DIANA GLAZER (director) is a New York based director, producer, casting director, and creative consultant with expertise in new music theater works. She has worked on the Broadway productions of Chicago, La Cage Aux Folles, and Soul of Shaolin, as well as the Asian tours of Aida and Fame. Diana is the President and CEO of DiStar Productions and the Casting Director at Prospect Theater Company. She is currently working in the musical theater department at Lincoln Center Theater and also recently served as Artistic Coordinator at the Weisslers' office. Directing credits include: Onward (59e59), Act IV Cabaret (Weston Playhouse), Birth Day (Hudson Guild), Asssassins, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and How to Wake Up. Producing credits include: A Political Party! (Sage), green eyes (Fringe), Angels Twice Descending, Camp Out (the cell), A Mikvah (Fringe). Past: Nederlander Worldwide, MTC, Primary Stages, Harden-Curtis, Weston Playhouse, and Mason Street Warehouse. Currently: Producer on The Great Unknown, The History of War, and Trav'lin (all NYMF 2010) and Comedy of Manors.
