Storm Theatre Kicks Off 2013 with LE CID, Now thru 2/9

By:

The Storm Theatre Company will kick off 2013 with LE CID, a play by Pierre Corneille, translated into English verse by Richard Wilbur from tonight, January 4th through February 9th. LE CID is a co-production with The Blackfriars Repertory Theatre.

Peter Dobbins, Artistic Director of the Storm Theatre Company will helm the production which will feature Spencer Aste, Brian J. Coffey, Dinh Q. Doan, Meaghan Bloom Fluitt, Cheri Paige Fogleman, Benjamin Jones, Jeff Kline, Jessica Levesque, John Puello, George Taylor and Jessica Zinder. Stephen Logan Day serves as Assistant Director. Costume design is by Courtney Irizarry; lighting design by Michael Abrams; sound design by Kenneth Goodwin and scenic design by Josh Iacovelli.

In LE CID, the 17th century classic, Don Rodrique transforms himself from young lover to great warrior, through his steadfast devotion to honor above all else. His actions both repel and attract his beloved Chimene who responds in-kind with a vow to destroy what she loves most. What ensues is one of history's strangest and most compelling love stories as well as one of the greatest dramatic works about the difficulty in becoming who you truly are.

Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm with special added performances January 7th at 7:30 pm, Saturday matinees at 2:00 pm on January 19th, 26th and February 2nd and Wednesdays, January 30th and February 6th at 7:30 pm.

Tickets are priced at $25.00 and can be purchased online through www.smartix.com or by calling 212 868-4444. The Storm Theatre is at The Theatre of the Church of Notre Dame 114th Street and Morningside Drive (1 block from Columbia University). Take #1 train to 116th Street-walk 2 blocks south and 2 blocks east.
